A one-page rate card for independents
Send a rate card, not a messy email.
Daycard turns your costs and target income into a designed one-page card you can attach to a quote.
What’s in the kit
One zip. Open a single HTML file in a browser. Fill your numbers. Print a page. No account, no backend, works offline.
The generator
A self-contained HTML file. Type on the left; a live A4-ish card updates on the right. Your figures stay in this browser only.
Four example presets
Independent product designer, software developer, strategy consultant, and creative producer. Examples, not real people — load one, then overwrite everything.
One-page guide
How to pick utilization, why unpaid weeks matter, and how to send the card with a quote instead of arguing the number in chat.
Print to PDF
Your browser’s print dialog. The stylesheet hides the form so only the card lands on the page. Save as PDF on macOS or Windows.
How the maths works
You name a take-home figure for the year. Unpaid weeks (holiday and admin), sick or buffer days, and a utilization rate shrink that year to the days you actually bill. Overheads, super or retirement, and an optional tax buffer go into a cost base. Divide cost base by billable days. If GST or VAT is on, the card also shows the inclusive figure.
Working days = max(1, (52 − unpaid weeks) × 5 − sick days)
Billable days = working days × utilization
Cost base = take-home + overheads + super + tax buffer
Day rate (ex) = cost base ÷ billable days
Day rate (inc) = ex rate × (1 + GST/VAT)
Hourly is the day rate divided by eight. Weekly is the day rate times five. All three round to whole currency units. These are estimates so you can put a number on a page — not tax, legal, or financial advice, and not a substitute for an accountant.

Questions
Does it work offline?
Yes. Open the HTML file from your computer. The maths and the layout do not need a network. Google fonts load if you are online; system fonts take over if you are not.
Is this financial advice?
No. Daycard is a calculator with a layout. It does not know your tax position, your awards, or your contracts. Estimates only — not tax, legal, or financial advice.
Which currencies?
Australian dollars (shown as A$), US dollars, pounds sterling, and euros. Symbols and GST/VAT defaults follow the currency; you can edit the rates.
How does GST or VAT work?
It is a toggle plus a rate. AUD starts at 10%, GBP and EUR at 20%, USD at 0%. Turn it off and the card shows only the exclusive day rate. It is not a tax engine and it does not produce a tax invoice.
Is there a subscription?
No. A$19 once. The files are yours. There is nothing to renew and nothing to log into.
Where do I get the files after paying?
Stripe emails a receipt. Then open the kit page on this site for the zip and the generator. If the HTML will not open in a current desktop browser, email the address on that receipt for a refund.
What if the file won’t open?
If the HTML will not open in a current desktop browser, email the address on your Stripe receipt and we will refund the A$19. The kit is otherwise yours to keep.
